Lodge Celebrates 50 Years!
Visit the 50th
Anniversary Page by Clicking HERE!
During the Spring Fellowship & Ordeal at MVSR
the weekend of May 4-6, Netawatwees Lodge will be celebrating its 50th
Anniversary. Starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, several events will be
held, including a special steak dinner, memorabilia displays, time capsule
opening, ceremonies, and a cracker barrel. All current and former members
of Netawatwees Lodge are invited to attend for the cost of $10. This
includes the entire weekend if you choose to attend, starting at 6 p.m. on
Friday through Sunday morning. Handicap transportation will be available to
the dining hall. The evening will conclude after the cracker barrel at
around 10:00 p.m.
In addition to bringing yourself to the
event, we would encourage you to bring along a camp chair to take to the
ceremonies as limited seating is available. Al so,
“experienced” members are encouraged to bring along OA memorabilia to set up
as a display on the dining hall porch. We would like to chronicle the past
fifty years as completely as possible, so we need your help. If you plan to
bring a display, please contact Chris Canning at (740) 260-0245 or
cacanning@gmail.com so we can have space available. Finally, if you
have some items you would like to donate to a new time capsule to be buried
later in the year, we would greatly appreciate them. |

Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration
2007 is the 50th Anniversary of
Netawatwees Lodge and during our Spring Ordeal & Fellowship we will be
having a special Celebration to mark the occasion. Among the events that are
tentatively planned are a special dinner, opening of a time capsule, and
more. All members of Netawatwees Lodge, past or present, are invited to
attend for the price of $10 for any part o the weekend. We would especially
like to see as many past lodge chiefs present as possible. The special meal
will be in the evening of May 5, 2007, with other events planned for the
afternoon and evening of the same day. Mark your calendars now and watch for
more details in the coming months.
The 50th Anniversary Committee is still looking for input about what the
membership would like to see as part of this celebration. Some ideas that
have been proposed are a competition for Brotherhood Ceremony teams (past &
present), the gathering of items for a new time capsule, and displays of
personal OA memorabilia during the evening meal. If you have any other ideas
or comments or would like to help with one of the events, please contact
Committee Advisor Chris Canning at cacanning@gmail.com.
This is your event too and we want your help!

NOAC-(National Order of the Arrow Conference) "AWESOME!"
This year’s NOAC was
held at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, where over
8,000 brothers attended the largest NOAC ever. 11 Netawatwees Lodge members
went as participants and were able to take part in training, patch trading,
fun, and fellowship – including “The Grand Hodag,” which was a conference
wide gathering including music, fellowship, root beer, cotton candy,
popcorn, and much more. Training was outstanding and included managing
ordeals, inductions, Leave No Trace, overcoming challenges in a small lodge,
and a Leadership Synopsis with discussions led by members of the National
Committee and successful business people.
Three of our Lodge members were given the
opportunity to be on staff. Chris Canning served as the climbing youth lead,
while Rick Ebersole and Nick Parsons served on Shows Staff. Special thanks
to all of them for working to make NOAC a big success. If you are
considering going to the next NOAC at Indiana University in 2009, feel free
to talk to any of the participants, lodge officers, or staff members for
more information. And start saving today!

Spring Camporee Tap-Outs a
Success
Both Camporee tap-outs were a success.
Nine new candidates were tapped out from Zane Trace and many others were inducted
from Arrowhead. Zane Trace's Camporee had an Indian theme so any OA member
with an Indian outfit with them participated in the ceremony. Fifteen youth were
torch bearers, four were ceremonialists. The 20 members were also involved in
Indian dancing for the campfire, which showed signs of interest and
potential in the Lodge. All youths who participated have or will be
receiving a special patch.
